Dr. Wananit Wimuttisuk is a Senior Researcher in the Aquaculture Service Development Research Team at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Thailand. She holds a Ph.D. in Biology and Medicine from Brown University in Rhode Island, USA. An avid science communicator, Dr. Wimuttisuk won 3rd place in the inaugural FameLab Thailand Competition and has written scientific columns for general audience magazines. Since joining NSTDA, her work focuses on mapping the eicosanoid biosynthesis pathway in penaeid shrimp, uncovering the roles of eicosanoids in crustacean reproduction and pathogenic responses. Additionally, her research interests extend to developing alternative sources of polyunsaturated fatty acids from microorganisms for shrimp feed supplementation. Dr. Wimuttisuk serves as a project coordinator for “ShrimpGuard: Development of phage-associated formulation to combat antimicrobial-resistant vibriosis in cultured shrimp,” an InnoVet-AMR 2.0 project supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.
