Warangkhana Songsungthong, Ph.D.
After earning a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiologist from Tufts University (USA), Dr. Warangkhana Songsungthong joined BIOTEC, NSTDA, Thailand as a researcher. With a career spanning fundamental research to translational industry solutions, Dr. Songsungthong focuses on bridging the gap between genomic discovery and commercial application to combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
Her current research leverages an in-house genomic analysis platform to solve critical industry bottlenecks in two key areas:
Precision Diagnostics: Developing DNA-based assays for the rapid and accurate detection of pathogens (including Aeromonas and Mycobacterium species), facilitating higher-resolution epidemiology and smarter farm management.
Broad-Spectrum Vaccines/Immune stimulants: Identifying universal antigens to move beyond traditional inactivated whole cell vaccines, aiming for cross-species or cross-serovar protection.
Driven by a One Health approach, Dr. Songsungthong is dedicated to transforming creative scientific ideas into scalable inventions that make aquaculture more resilient, sustainable, and less reliant on antibiotics.
