PhD candidate in Biotechnology at the LIENSs laboratory in La Rochelle, Axel Pitard conducts research on the anti-infective activity of bioactive compounds derived from marine, algal, and plant-based resources. His work addresses the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance and aims to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of action of natural compounds, as well as their efficacy against pathogenic bacteria and viruses. His PhD project is funded by Phytomar’Innov, a joint laboratory between LIENSs and Valbiotis, and by the PSGAR C3AMR project supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.
