Mags Crumlish is a Professor in Microbiology at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling where she is leading research on aquatic animal diseases, diagnosis, vaccine development and AMR risks and mitigation strategies. She has been working in global aquaculture for more than 25 years and her current research is focused on AMR mitigation in aquaculture and novel vaccine strategies for farmed Pangasius catfish and tilapia in Vietnam and Thailand. Her research spans field and laboratory work as well as including qualitative interviews to understand the drivers behind vaccine hesitancy in Southeast Asian fish farmers. She is the programme director for the MSc degree in Aquatic Pathobiology and Aquatic Veterinary Studies at Stirling. As well as being active in teaching and research, she is the deputy Chair for the University Animal Welfare and Ethical review Board at the University of Stirling and is passionate about ensuring the health and welfare of aquatic farmed animals.
